Complex family relationships

Family Estrangement Counselling in Essex

Estrangement is painful whichever side of it you are on. You deserve a place to think and feel without judgement.

Understanding

What is family estrangement?

Estrangement means a lasting break in contact with a family member. It might be your decision, someone else’s, or a gradual drifting apart. It often comes with grief, guilt, anger and judgement from others.

Counselling helps you make sense of what happened and decide what you want, whether that is reconnection, distance or acceptance.

You may recognise

  • Grief, guilt or anger
  • Judgement from others
  • Uncertainty about reaching out
  • Anniversaries and holidays
  • Worry about the next generation
